The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction known as UNISDR and designated as a focal point for disaster risk reduction within the United Nations system, wishes to inform you that, as of May 1 of this year, it adopts the acronym of UNDRR in order to maintain coherence between the name of our office and its acronym in English.
As UNDRR we will continue to support the implementation and monitoring of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. UNDRR reiterates its commitment to continue working for a transformation that ensures the efforts of disaster risk reduction, the construction of resilience, its support to countries to prevent new and reduce existing risks created by natural, anthropogenic or socionatural hazards. Only then, and taking into account effective disaster risk management, will we achieve sustainable development.
