The St. Kitts Met Office is closely monitoring Tropical Depression #5, which formed at 11am this morning (Saturday 24th Aug 2019). At 11:00 am it was located approximately 1100 miles East-southeast of St. Kitts & Nevis with sustained winds of 35mph. It is expected to move in a West – West northwesterly direction and continue to develop as it approaches the island chain; as such we are urging the general public to pay close attention to additional updates from The St. Kitts Met office on the approaching system through the various media houses.
Persons are also reminded that we are now in the peak month of Hurricanes Season and are encouraged to have hurricane preparedness plans completed. Persons are also reminded that weather is dynamic in nature and as such can improve or worsen over time. As such it is vital to continue listening for authentic information and updates from The St. Kitts Met Office.
