On this month of May, the focus of the 12-month multi-hazard campaign will be drought. The partnership with the departments of Nevis Disaster management department and Education department will have the Nevis Academy as it’s focal point. The students will be responsible for sharing the relevant information about drought through print, audio and video mediums.
They will highlight the importance of understanding the cause and effect of drought conditions. Our island is not immune to drought and as such information shared by those students would be extremely useful. Drought conditions are brought on by the prolonged absence of rainfall, which causes natural vegetation to die and water levels to drop.
