According to the seventh update issued in 2018 by the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, there has been a slow increase in the number of earthquakes associated with the Kick-’em-Jenny (KeJ) volcano. Below are plots showing the activity up to the 5th March. The numbers above the bars in the Daily-Cumulative plot indicate the maximum magnitude of the events recorded for that day.
Today, 9th March from about 10:30 a.m., recording of another burst of KeJ events began; so far, there have been about 6 events.
The KeJ volcano had eruptive activity in July 2015 and April 2017. At this time, it is uncertain whether or not this period of unrest will again lead to another eruption, but the intensification being observed makes this a very likely possibility. Monitoring and updates, guided by the level of activity, will continue.
