What CERT does
The CERT movement on Nevis is one of NDMD's flagship community programmes. Volunteers are trained in light search and rescue, first aid, fire safety, disaster psychology and team organisation — practical skills that turn ordinary residents into the first line of response when a hurricane, earthquake or fire hits.
Training covers
- Light search and rescue in collapsed or damaged structures
- First aid, triage and basic life support
- Fire safety and small fire suppression
- Disaster psychology — supporting affected neighbours
- Team organisation, communications and damage reporting
Parish CERT Coordinators
Five coordinators — one for each Nevis parish — lead the CERT programme in their community.

CERT sits inside Community Disaster Management — the volunteer side of NDMD's work. The Community Liaison Officer at NDMD (currently Winston "Parpa" Parris) coordinates the programme; see the staff page for contact details.
