There were minor build-ups of debris on the streets from street flow as a result of the persistent showers.
One tree fell across the island Main Road in the “Pot Works” area and that was cleared by a volunteer with heavy equipment.
The NEVLEC distribution system continues to fare quite well during the passage of the Tropical Storm Laura.
NEVLEC has not experienced any major interruptions, but have received reports of localized interruptions in Zion, Brown Hill, Clay Ghaut, Rices, Pond Hill and Buck’s Hill.
Crews have been mobilized and dispatched to commence restoration of power. NEVLEC will provide further updates once areas have been assessed and electricity restored. NEVLEC expects to restore electricity, to the above-mentioned areas, in the next few hours.
To assist with the process, NEVLEC is requesting that customers, out of electricity, call the Emergency Dispatch at 869-662-5811. NEVLEC would like to apologize to our valued customers for the inconvenience caused and to assure you that we are continuing to take steps to make our system even more resilient.
The rain showers continues so we will continue to monitor the situation.
