TROPICAL STORM HARVEY DRENCHING THE WINDWARD ISLANDS
AT 5AM ECT OR 0900Z THE CENTRE OF TROPICAL STORM HARVEY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 13.1 NORTH,LONGITUDE 59.1 WEST OR ABOUT 300 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND 480 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
TROPICAL STORM HARVEY IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 18 MILES, AND A CONTINUED WESTWARD MOTION WITH A SLIGHT INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. ON THE FORECAST TRACK, HARVEY SHOULD MOVE THROUGH THE WINDWARD ISLANDS AND INTO THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA LATER TODAY.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME SLIGHT STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND UP TO 60 MILES FROM THE CENTRE.
THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1004 MB OR 29.65 INCHES.
ON ITS FORECAST TRACK, TROPICAL STORM HARVEY IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE A THREAT TO THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. HOWEVER, RESIDENTS OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE MOVEMENT OF HARVEY.
