…BERYL WEAKENS TO A TROPICAL STORM…
AT 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM BERYL WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 12.1 NORTH, LONGITUDE 51.1 WEST OR 740 NORTICAL MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF ST. KITTS AND NEVIS, 788 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA AND 998 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS.
BERYL IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 14 MPH (22 KM/H). A WEST-NORTHWESTWARD MOTION WITH SOME INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS. ON THE FORECAST TRACK, THE CENTER OF BERYL WILL CROSS THE ISLAND CHAIN LATE SUNDAY OR MONDAY AND MOVE SOUTH OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS ON MONDAY.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE DECREASED TO NEAR 65 MPH (100 KM/H) WITH HIGHER GUSTS. ADDITIONAL WEAKENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HRS, ESPECIALLY ONCE BERYL REACHES THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA ON MONDAY. THIS SYSTEM COULD DEGENERATE INTO AN OPEN TROUGH BY THE TIME IT REACHES THE CENTRAL CARIBBEAN SEA AND HISPANIOLA ON TUESDAY.

BERYL IS A TROPICAL STORM WITH TROPICAL STORM-FORCE WINDS EXTENDING OUTWARD UP TO 35 MILES (55 KM) FROM THE CENTER.
