CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — SEPTEMBER, 11, 2024 — The Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD), in partnership with the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), is set to host a three-day Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (DANA) Workshop from September 23rd to 25th, 2024. This critical workshop will be held at the NDMD facility on Long Point Road, running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.
The DANA workshop is aimed at empowering senior-level personnel from various departments within the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and relevant agencies. By participating in this training, attendees will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently complete damage assessment reports following emergencies or hazard impacts.
The ability to conduct accurate damage assessments is crucial in the aftermath of disasters, as it provides vital information for decision-making, resource allocation, and overall disaster recovery efforts.
The NDMD and BHA recognize the importance of this training, particularly as Nevis continues to build resilience in the face of climate change and increasing hazard risks. “We are thrilled to collaborate with the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance on this essential initiative. Effective damage assessment is a cornerstone of disaster recovery, and through this workshop, we hope to strengthen the capacity of our local departments and agencies to respond swiftly and efficiently in the aftermath of any hazard,” said Brian Dyer, Director of the Nevis Disaster Management Department.
The NDMD has extended invitations to all Heads of Departments and Agencies, requesting their nomination of one senior representative to participate in the workshop. The deadline for confirming participants is September 17th, 2024.
